Abstract
This article focuses on competence based practice in higher education. The inadequate initial education and training predispose to assume that the practice period is a privileged space for professional initiation and socialization. We consider, for instance, professional competence as an education reference in practice situations. The article starts with the conceptualization of professional competence and competence based education and training. We present afterwards some implications for the practice period: design, development, management and evaluation.
