The elaboration of didactic materials in municipal education contexts. The «Ulla Elemental» Educational Project

Abstract

This article presents the reflections deriving from the planning, implementation and evaluation of a project involving didactic materials elaborated for a Galician municipality (Vedra, A Coruña) as part of the «Ulla Elemental» Educational Project. Among the main goals for the materials produced in this project, we would like to point out the following: fostering knowledge of the municipality’s natural, cultural-historical and social heritage, promoting awareness of the surroundings, encouraging greater information and sensitivity towards the environment, contributing to the community’s sustainable development, getting the entire educational community involved in the processes of elaborating and developing didactic material, and proposing activities that are complementary to those included in textbooks. Likewise, this project aims to promote interaction among institutions, associations and groups. Thus, the elaboration of materials can become a magnificent opportunity for the professional development of the participants in the process. This article will analyse the role that didactic resources played in the development of programs and projects organized by the municipality as well as the principal design and implementation stages of the materials proposed.
