Main Article Content
Abstract
INTRODUCTION. Manuel Bartolomé Cossío participated in the creation of a large part of pedagogical initiatives and educational reforms implemented at the end of the nineteenth century and during the first third of the twentieth century in the Spanish scholar setting. During this period, several pedagogical press titles emerged. They represented an excellent means of expression, of teacher training and knowledge dissemination, with the presence of pedagogical renewal referents and essential figures from the education and culture of that moment. This contribution analyzes the importance given to Cossío in the journal Escuelas de España, published between 1929 and 1936. METHOD. This study is based on an exhaustive review of scientific literature on the figure and initiatives of Cossío. The study has been carried out through the process of historical-educational research and through the documental analysis technique of the 44 issues that make up the journal. Analysis categories have allowed us to approach texts written by Cossío, references to him in the journal and his influence on it. RESULTS. The presence of Cossío in Escuelas de España has been significant since the journal was founded, but there are more references to the pedagogue since his death in September 1935. DISCUSSION. Escuelas de España, just like other reference journals, collects important aspects of Cossío’s works and personality. Recovering what has been said about influential people in the history of education of our country thanks to historical-educational heritage, such as pedagogical press, helps us to rebuild the education of a specific time-space moment and contribute to the history of education and pedagogy
