Abstract

We present a study carried out at a Spanish secondary institute, which is aimed at the modification of the schooling conditions for the students of travelling community’s ethnic minority from the first cycle of compulsory secondary school. We address to the Educational Compensation Plan from the centre, expecting the achievement of more inclusive pedagogical practices. These are students with a remarkable curriculum gap, numerous disciplinary punishments, high absenteeism and low involvement of families in their learning. In this article, we will focus on a description of the intervention context, an analysis of the centre need and the groups served by the plan. We propose an intervention programme that meets the objectives of research and the analysis of results from the first year of implementation of this programme and also to present some of the main conclusions of the study.
