University students learning styles’ profiles and teaching methodologies

Abstract
The approaches and learning styles of students in general and, specially, those of college students constitute one of the common fields of study in the educational research. The main objective of this research is to verify if predominance of certain study-learning approaches and the closer relationship that these may have with the students´ preferred methodologies and with those developed by teachers exist considering that, in the current university framework, the methodological change is one of the most important. The data analysis that we present considers the information collected from student questionnaires. The final objective is to determine certain learning profiles that can be related with the aforementioned methodological aspects. Different methodologies could be used for dealing with the diversity of students attending to their specific learning approach typology that is, in short, one of the targets of the new Higher Education framework.
