Abstract

In this article we look at some of the main guidelines that orient activities undertaken in compulsory secondary education, which are aimed at promoting integration of disabled people into social and work environments. The contributions and ideas that we put forward with regard to these fields are derived from the research process carried out over several years by our research group in relation to the insertion of disabled people into the workforce. They are largely based on the confirmation that the success of this integration does not only depend on the actions of the orientation and labour insertion services, but also fundamentally depends on previous training undertaken during schooling. We firstly refer to activities carried out in education centres related with the decisions made on the contents of the school curriculum. The following themes are discussed: decisions made about placement in schools (forms of schooling) and decisions related to the design and development of the school curriculum. We finally introduce some of the main activities carried out in relation to the family environment.
