Abstract

The «traditional» classification of victims, aggressors and witnesses turns out insufficient to explain
and to give answer to the aggressions that take place in the school context. This work is centered
in the analysis of a new profile: the aggressive-victim. The aims of the present study are: a) to determine
the prevalence of aggressive-victims and analysing if it varies based on maltreatment received
and on the gender and age of the student; b) to study the abuse modality that the aggressive-victims
apply based on the aggression suffered and on the gender and age of the student use. The sample is
composed of 2091 students of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) of Extremadura coming
from different parts of the region. The methodology is descriptive in nature, using the questionnaire
as the instrument of collection of data. The results indicate that the prevalence of aggressive-victims
varies based on the type of abuses. At the same time, it is observed that the percentage of
aggressive-victims increases when the suffered abuse is related to verbal aggression or of social
exclusion. However, a certain amount of mimicry between the forms of maltreatment suffered and
aggressions is showed. Also, it is verified that there are significant differences in the prevalence
of aggressive-victim based on the gender and educative level of the student.
