Abstract

The current work reflects the values that were gestated at the beginning of the nineteenth century and that have determined both the Spanish Educational System development and consolidation, stating that the evolution the different values have suffered is determined by the political, economical, social and cultural environment in Spain in the course of these years. Also, the nineteenth century first legislative texts impact in the present educational policy is briefly analyzed.
