Abstract

Vocational Training resists becoming a highly preferred option for young people and, despite the support given to these studies in the LOGSE, the negative connotations inherited from former statutes, reforms and other sources seems to continue leaving their mark on choices made by students leaving Secondary Education, even facing the unanimous recognition that such courses lead to good employment opportunities and that there is a constant demand for trained professionals leaving vocational training centres. In this article we try to analyse the causes that have led to Vocational Training being seen as a second class option, which is the current situation, and to identify the keys for a much needed change in the way it is proposed. All this will, undoubtedly, imply progresses and will ask for a more legitimate role in these changing and uncertain times.
