Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of this study was searching about relationship between linguistic skills and reading comprehension. The sample was 166 subjects, 93 males (56%) and 73 females (44%), of different social status. They were pupils of fifth-level in Primary Education (n = 105) and of secondlevel in Secondary Education (n = 61). Applying a correlation design was found that linguistic skills, at phonological, lexical, morphological and syntactical level are soundly related with text comprehension (both literal and inferential knowledge and global apprehension). The linguistic skill at syntax level is the most relevant and so the best predictor of reading achievement.
