Abstract

This manuscript includes two researches carried out during the last four years in Catalonian public universities. Both researches were designed to study Organizational Culture by means of two different models of analysis: one of them was focused on the university as a global context and the other places emphasis on one specific department. This manuscript separately considers theoretical and methodological aspects of both researches; results and conclusions are shown as a whole, remarking positive and negative aspects of each work. Results of this analysis can be used as a methodological tool for future research teams, especially those focused on Organizational Culture in educational contexts. As a main result, this manuscript shows two different methodologies of research which identify common and divergent features in both the University and the Department contexts. Other researchers are expected to use those particular aspects they consider to be useful from these papers. All the sources, both theoretical and field studies, prove that organisational culture has a fundamental role in the development of universities as real change happens to the latter first.
