Variação na condição física e impacto da COVID-19 em jovens adultos colombianos: um estudo observacional retrospectivo de 11 anos

Resumo

Introdução. Os baixos níveis de atividade física (AF) tornaram-se um dos principais problemas da sociedade. A aptidão física é um preditor de saúde. Mirar. O presente estudo investiga mudanças temporais na potência dos membros inferiores, velocidade de corrida, flexibilidade e aptidão cardiorrespiratória antes e depois do COVID-19. Material e método. Foram coletados dados transversais de 2.942 jovens (17 a 21 anos) de ambos os sexos entre 2011 e 2022. O desempenho foi analisado em relação à força explosiva de membros inferiores com base no salto em distância em pé (SLJ), flexibilidade (Sit- and-Reach), resistência cardiorrespiratória (20 m Shuttle Run Test) e velocidade (SP-30 m). Os resultados indicam quedas significativas (p<0,001), fortes e moderadas (ES = 0,45 a 1,45), na corrida de vaivém na maioria dos períodos para jovens de ambos os sexos, embora a queda no desempenho das mulheres tenha sido o dobro da dos homens. O SLJ também apresentou queda significativa (p<0,001) fraca e moderada (ES = 0,07 a 1,86) na maioria dos períodos, com queda mais forte nos homens. O teste de sentar e alcançar não demonstrou diferenças significativas por sexo ou período. No SP-30 m, foram observadas diminuições fracas (EP = 0,12) significativas (p<0,001) no tempo de corrida apenas para os homens entre 2011-2022, enquanto houve aumentos fortes (p<0,001) significativos (ES = 1,8-2,0 ) para mulheres em alguns períodos. Conclusões. A pandemia silenciosa de inatividade física e comportamentos sedentários teve um efeito maior do que a COVID-19 nos níveis de inatividade física e comportamentos sedentários. Os resultados deste estudo indicam uma redução gradual e sustentada da aptidão física dos jovens adultos ao longo da última década, superior à causada pelo confinamento devido à pandemia de COVID-19. Isto indica que o nível de aptidão física é tão baixo que o confinamento não gerou efeitos significativos na redução da aptidão física da população adulta jovem. Por outras palavras, a pandemia silenciosa de inactividade física e comportamentos sedentários teve um efeito maior do que a COVID-19 nos níveis de inactividade física e comportamentos sedentários.
