Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio fue sistematizar los estudios llevados a cabo sobre jugadores de balonmano según sexo y nivel competitivo en Chile durante los años 2013 al 2023. La investigación se llevó a cabo siguiendo las pautas del ítem informado para revisiones sistemáticas y metanálisis (PRISMA). La fuente de recolección de datos fue la consulta directa de las bases de Pubmed y Scopus, y se utilizó la estrategia PICoR para definir criterios de elegibilidad. Se observa que la práctica del deporte está mayormente dominada por mujeres. Los participantes incluyeron personas de diferentes niveles competitivos, como seleccionados chilenos de diversas categorías, seleccionados a nivel escolar, seleccionados universitarios y participantes de un taller extraescolar. Además, la edad de los participantes fue variada, con un rango entre los 14 y 30 años y una media de 22 años. Se puede concluir que la investigación sobre balonmano en el contexto nacional es aún incipiente, y que la finalidad de investigación de estos estudios es variada y se enfoca en diferentes aspectos. No obstante, algunos de los hallazgos incluidos en este artículo ofrecen una base sólida y heterogénea para el desarrollo de futuros estudios en torno a esta disciplina, fomentando una comprensión más compleja acerca de la práctica del balonmano en el contexto chileno.

Abstract. The objective of this study was to systematize the studies carried out on handball players according to sex and competitive level in Chile during the years 2013 to 2023. The research was carried out following the guidelines of the item reported for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA). The search for information was conducted in Pubmed and Scopus databases, and the PICoR strategy was used to define eligibility criteria. It is observed that the practice of sport is mostly dominated by women. The participants included people from different competitive levels, such as Chilean national teams of different categories, school level teams, university teams and participants of an extracurricular workshop. In addition, the age of the participants was varied, with a range between 14 and 30 years and an average of 22 years. It can be concluded that research on handball in the national context is still incipient, and that the research purpose of these studies is varied and focuses on different aspects. Nevertheless, some of the findings included in this article offer a solid and heterogeneous basis for the development of future studies on this discipline, fostering a more complex understanding of handball practice in the Chilean context.
