IMC, percentual de gordura e colesterol total de atletas: qual a situação deles?

Existe uma relação mútua entre o índice de massa corporal (IMC), o percentual de gordura e os níveis totais de colesterol no sangue. Manter um IMC normal torna-se referência para manutenção da saúde. Um IMC mais elevado aumenta o risco de uma maior percentagem de gordura e colesterol, o que contribui para influenciar negativamente a saúde. Este estudo foi conduzido para determinar se o IMC, os níveis de gordura e o colesterol total no sangue dos atletas podem ser mantidos adequadamente. Participaram da pesquisa 323 atletas, com idade entre 13 e 46 anos e média de 22 anos. Os participantes representaram 26 quadras esportivas. O teste de IMC foi realizado medindo seu peso e altura. O teste de percentual de gordura foi realizado medindo-se a gordura total do tríceps, abdominal e suprailíaca, além de medir a largura do braço, úmero e fêmur. O colesterol total foi determinado a partir da amostra de sangue. Todos os dados foram analisados no Excel e no SPSS IMC série 26. Os resultados mostraram que, em média, o IMC foi de 22,82, enquanto o percentual de gordura foi de 18,94 e o colesterol total foi de 170,77. Foi observada alta correlação entre IMC e colesterol total. Houve alta correlação entre IMC e percentual de gordura (0,505). Entretanto, a correlação entre IMC e colesterol não foi significativa, sendo detectada apenas uma baixa correlação entre percentual de gordura e colesterol.
