The advent of the big data era provides a more open and freer platform for sports training management, which also promotes the diversification of teaching content in macrocycles. Strengthen the integration and analysis of data resources, can improve the traditional sports training methods. The objective of this article was to analyze the characteristics of the new trends in sports training management. To achieve this, a systematic literature review (SLR) of 415 articles published, from January 2012 to June 2022, was carried out in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases. We worked with nine questions that explored three themes: characteristics, technologies, and designs with lines of innovation in sports training management. Validation was based on the criteria of the University of York: inclusion and exclusion, relevance and description of data, as well as peer review in the analysis. The findings show networks of co-terms, identification of innovations in sports training management, and types of management designs that are being worked on in line of research and innovation in sports training. It is concluded that the management of sports training contributes with a combination of characteristics, strategies, and processes to address the complexity of sports training, with holistic, interdisciplinary understanding and change in the way of doing research in these times.
