The role of city councils in the elaboration of educational materials

The elaboration of didactic materials by the City Councils represents a relevant concretion in the perspective of the implication and participation of the municipalities in education. The study carried out here has had the objective of analyzing the characteristics of the learning materials and their elaboration processes by the City Councils of the province of A Coruña (Galicia - Spain) and, particularly, it investigates the good practices of the municipalities of A Coruña, Cabana de Bergantiños and Santiago de Compostela. The methodology followed has considered the documentary review, the evaluation and cataloguing of learning materials and the vision of the municipal officials. The main results obtained delve into the dimensions of the characterization of teaching materials, as well as their planning, design, publication and dissemination. Among the conclusions reached, it is highlighted that the design and development of didactic materials by the City Councils has multiple possibilities and responds to very different needs in a diverse municipal reality.
