O potencial da folha de café kawa na redução do stress oxidativo após exercício físico

Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o efeito das bebidas de café com folhas de kawa na redução do stress oxidativo após exercício físico. Esta pesquisa é uma pré-experiência com um desenho de pré-teste e pós-teste em grupo. Participaram 10 atletas de pentanca com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 22 anos (homens; n1=6 e mulheres; n2=4). O procedimento de investigação inclui a recolha de amostras de sangue como dados pré e pós-teste para análise dos níveis de Hemoglobina (Hb), Leucócitos, Malondialdeído (MDA) e Interleucina-6 (IL-6). Os participantes correram 400 m e descansaram durante 10 a 15 minutos, tendo depois recebido café com folhas de kawa embebidas em água a ferver durante cinco minutos. Os resultados do estudo mostraram que a análise da atividade antioxidante das bebidas de café com folhas de kawa que foram embebidas em água a ferver durante 5 minutos teve a melhor atividade oxidante (6.936,58 ppm com 6,93%). Esta bebida tem uma influência eficaz nos níveis de stress oxidativo, não apresentando potencial significativo como balanceador de Hb, Leucócitos, MDA e IL-6 (p>0,05). Concluindo, o café da folha de kawa pode ser utilizado como bebida alternativa para atletas e não atletas para minimizar os picos de MDA como marcador de stress oxidativo após exercício físico.
