O potencial do treinamento de resistência: recomendações baseadas em evidências para a saúde de mulheres de meia-idade e mais velhas

Resumo

As mulheres têm uma maior esperança de vida, mas também uma pior qualidade de vida devido aos efeitos combinados do envelhecimento e da menopausa. Entre as terapias não farmacológicas mais utilizadas para interromper os efeitos desses fenômenos está o treinamento resistido. Os objetivos desta revisão narrativa foram: 1) analisar a força dos parâmetros de saúde de mulheres de meia-idade e idosas; e 2) fornecer uma série de recomendações práticas para treinamento de resistência para mulheres. Verificou-se que o treinamento resistido demonstrou prevenir e/ou tratar doenças crônicas, melhorar a força muscular, aumentar a densidade óssea e reduzir o risco de quedas e fraturas em mulheres idosas. Para realizar nossa busca, utilizamos diversas bases de dados, incluindo MedLine (Pubmed) e Cochrane (Wiley), buscando palavras-chave compatíveis com MeSH, como: (treinamento de força OR treinamento de resistência) AND (mulheres de meia-idade OR mulheres mais velhas). Nossa busca foi limitada a manuscritos publicados entre 1º de abril de 2013 e 1º de abril de 2023, embora alguns estudos anteriores tenham sido referenciados para fornecer contexto adicional em determinadas áreas da revisão narrativa. A revisão narrativa destaca que o treino regular de resistência pode ajudar as mulheres mais velhas a manter a independência e a melhorar a sua qualidade de vida geral. Além disso, a revisão narrativa sugere que o treino de resistência também pode ter efeitos benéficos sobre outros resultados de saúde, tais como saúde cardiovascular, função e saúde músculo-esquelética. No geral, a revisão narrativa fornece evidências que apoiam a inclusão do treino de resistência no regime de exercícios de mulheres idosas para promover um envelhecimento saudável. Esta revisão narrativa tem como objetivo fornecer informações sobre os benefícios do treinamento resistido para a saúde em mulheres de meia-idade e idosas, e propõe uma série de recomendações para promover sua prática segura e eficaz, para ajudá-las a desfrutar de um envelhecimento saudável.
