Introduction: Physical activity plays a fundamental role in the correct development and maintenance of health in all areas, including quality of life. In this sense, people with disabilities tend to encounter barriers when practising physical activity. In this context, canoeing is currently one of the most relevant adapted sports.
Aim: The present study explores the quality of life, self-perceived physical condition and motivation for sport in a group of canoeists with and without disabilities.
Methodology: A Mann Whitney U test was performed to analyse differences between sexes and the presence or absence of disability in quality of life, physical fitness and motivation. Subsequently, the correlations of quality of life in men and women and the presence or not of disability with physical fitness and motivation were studied, and finally added to the regression model on quality of life.
Results: The study shows that sport with disability is a relevant factor on quality of life and physical fitness.
Conclusions: Enjoyment of canoeing is independent of quality of life, presence or absence of disability and gender of participants.
