Versus leonini, leonisme, léonime.
Two-syllable rhyme in medieval troubadour poetic theory, with its Latin and French counterparts

Leonisme / léonime was a highly esteemed rhyming phenomenon only partially indebted to medieval Latin leonitas / versus leonini. The latter referred mainly to an internal rhyme phenomenon, whereas its Occitan/Catalan counterpart was understood as a rhyme in which at least two syllables are involved, either in feminine or in masculine words. This seems to be also the predominant meaning in French poetry. This paper systematizes these concepts as they appear in medieval Latin, Occitan-Catalan and French treatises on poetry, in order to achieve a better understanding of the uses of rhyme in late medieval troubadour-Catalan poetry.
