Efeito agudo de pausas fisicamente ativas sobre variáveis cognitivas e criatividade no ensino médio

Resumo. O objetivo deste estudo foi conhecer o efeito agudo de dois tipos diferentes de pausas ativas (baixa e alta intensidade), realizadas entre duas aulas, sobre diversas variáveis cognitivas como memória, atenção-concentração, cálculo matemático, raciocínio linguístico e criatividade. em jovens do ensino médio. Participaram 136 adolescentes com idade de 12,92 ± 0,43 anos. Foram utilizados 3 grupos de estudo: 1) Grupo controle (GC) que permaneceu sentado dentro da classe; 2) Grupo experimental 1 (GE1) que realizou 1 repouso ativo de 4 minutos em baixa intensidade; e 3) Grupo experimental 2 (GE2) que realizou exercícios de alta intensidade. Para analisar os efeitos dos diferentes tipos de repouso, foram utilizadas medidas repetidas Grupo ANCOVA 3 (GC, GE1, GE2) x 2 Tempo (pré, pós). Idade, sexo e educação da mãe foram usados como covariáveis. Os resultados mostraram que as pausas ativas melhoraram a memória posterior dos participantes (p <0,001). O repouso ativo de baixa intensidade teve um efeito semelhante de melhora na atenção e concentração (21 e 25%, p <0,001). Melhorias no cálculo matemático foram observadas após os dois tipos de pausas ativas, entretanto, as diferenças não se tornaram significativas. Os adolescentes não apresentaram melhora na habilidade de linguagem ou criatividade. Sugere-se a inclusão de pausas ativas, preferencialmente de baixa intensidade, para obter benefícios de curto prazo na atenção, concentração e cálculo matemático em jovens do ensino médio.
