Além do controle glicêmico: benefícios da atividade física na qualidade de vida de pessoas com diabetes mellitus tipo 2: uma revisão narrativa

Resumo

O Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) é uma doença que vai além da mera alteração glicêmica, impactando profundamente a qualidade de vida dos pacientes nas dimensões física, psicológica e social. Esta revisão aborda de forma abrangente o papel crucial da atividade física no tratamento abrangente do DM2. Através de uma rigorosa estratégia de busca, foram identificados 31 artigos relevantes, excluindo aqueles que não atendiam aos critérios de inclusão definidos. Através de uma análise detalhada, foram exploradas as adaptações fisiológicas e metabólicas induzidas pelo exercício, destacando o seu impacto na homeostase orgânica e na prevenção de complicações. Foram identificadas barreiras globais à adoção da atividade física, desde perceções culturais até limitações socioeconómicas. Os resultados enfatizam a atividade física, como uma intervenção dinâmica que abrange múltiplos sistemas do corpo, e que transcende como componente essencial no arsenal terapêutico contra o DM2, colocando-a em paralelo com as intervenções tradicionais. Concluindo, destaca-se o papel da atividade como uma ferramenta essencial que oferece benefícios multifacetados que apoiam a melhoria da qualidade de vida dos pacientes com DM2, apelando à sua promoção como pilar terapêutico.
