In this long note we place the Guiron le Courtois cycle in its context of 13th century French literature on the matter of Britain. The interest of this very extensive cycle goes further, because it is the necessary link with the rich Italian tradition initiated by Rustichello da Pisa. Inexplicably, the Cycle had remained unpublished although it was known to scholars. The analysis of this critical edition reveals the usefulness of the application of the Neolachmannian method and the richness that it entails, by establishing the «surface manuscript» that allows a rigorous approach to the possible origins of each of the parts that comprise the narration.
