Genital bleeding is the most frequent gynaecological alteration in women of reproductive age. In industrial countries it is one of the most frequent causes of anaemia and can be a cause of labour absenteeism. Facing a patient with bleeding in the Accident and Emergency Service, the first thing is to evaluate the haemodynamic repercussion and take the necessary measures. A detailed case history and exploration are carried out to establish its origin. A uterine origin is usually considered when bleeding appears in the genital area, but this is not always the case, and it is necessary to rule out an origin in the lower genital tract, upper genital tract or an extragynaecological origin in the digestive and/or urological area. With the diagnosis an appropriate treatment will be considered, as well the possible need for hospital admission.Downloads
