Abstract

Environmental control for the prevention of diseases transmitted through the air poses important difficulties in the hospital environment. A review is made of the general control measures that are liable to be employed, as well the specific measures that depend on the specific mechanism of transmission (air or droplet-nuclei transmission). Given the transcendence and repercussion of tuberculosis amongst health personnel, details are given of the principal actions to be taken for its prevention and control.
