Abstract

Prognostic factors related to the histology of tumours. The histopathological study of tumours has two functions: diagnosis and the search for morphological and biological parameters that make it possible to predict clinical evolution and/or response to treatment in a specific patient, that is, the so-called prognostic and predictive factors. Some of these factors, such as the size of the tumour, stage, ploidy, etc., are general and can be applied to nearly all tumours, but others, such as hormonal receptors, are specific to tumour type and location.
