Suicídio no Contexto do Esporte de Elite: uma Síntese Metaetnográfica

Resumo

O suicídio ou suas tentativas constituem um grave problema que tem despertado a atenção de diversas áreas do conhecimento ligadas ao campo esportivo. Mas na maioria dos casos as análises são a partir de visões psicopatológicas ou baseadas em traumas físicos, sem compreender as particularidades da saúde mental. O artigo apresenta uma metaetnografia onde foi realizada uma revisão da literatura sobre pesquisas qualitativas sobre suicídio em atletas de 2012 a 2022. Foram obtidos oito artigos que abordavam o tema em diferentes esportes e níveis. Os temas abordados nas obras são diversos: a importância das relações saudáveis, a visibilidade dos problemas de saúde mental, a normalização da violência por parte dos treinadores e a falta de apoio emocional. É fundamental que os atletas tenham uma rede de apoio (que inclua treinadores, profissionais de saúde mental, etc.). Os problemas que afetaram os atletas identificados com ideação suicida incluem a combinação prolongada de sintomas de concussão, problemas acadêmicos, práticas de treinamento violentas normalizadas, altas demandas, invisibilidade do sofrimento e exposição a eventos traumáticos. É necessária formação de professores/treinadores em saúde mental, apoio social durante a recuperação de lesões, formação contínua em saúde mental, relações estreitas entre treinadores e atletas, envolvimento de especialistas em psiquiatria/psicologia desportiva, apoio do ambiente e equilíbrio entre desempenho e desenvolvimento pessoal .
