The esports phenomenon has been growing exponentially in recent years. Numerous teams have created high performance centres to generate increasingly competitive athletes. Different studies have indicated the importance of training in esports players. This research aimed to conduct a systematic review of the scientific articles published in the last 10 years (2012-2022) on training in esports players. A PubMed search was conducted using the keywords "esports" and "training". The review included papers in English that reported quantitative information on training and trainable variables aimed at improving sports performance. In a first step, 62 articles were obtained, but only 8 met the inclusion criteria. Despite the importance of the video game industry in general and esports in particular, very few studies have been found on training for the performance of the different variables. Furthermore, the studies found are not conclusive because they cannot be contrasted, have a poor design, or mix sample eligibility criteria. This research highlights the need to develop longitudinal studies with intervention that expose causal relationships between the proposals and the performance improvement obtained.
