Relación entre el nivel de habilidad motriz y la ansiedad percibida antes y después de una práctica de escalada en niños de Educación Primaria (Relationship between the level of motor skill and perceived anxiety before and after practice climbing in Prima

El presente estudio se llevó a cabo con el propósito de: (1) Identificar si la edad influía en los niveles de habilidad motriz y en la ansiedad que percibían estudiantes de educación primaria antes y después de realizar una práctica de iniciación a la escalada. (2) Comprobar si el nivel de habilidad motriz se relacionaba con la ansiedad que percibían dichos estudiantes antes y después de la práctica de escalada. Se utilizó una muestra de 116 alumnnos con edades comprendidas entre 6 y 10 años. Se empleó un test de habilidad motora y una escala analógica visual de dibujos faciales. Se comprobó como el nivel de habilidad motriz mejoró significativamente conforme aumentaba la edad de los sujetos (p d» 0.01). Se observaron diferencias significativas en la ansiedad percibida por el grupo de estudiantes antes y después de escalar (p d» 0.01). La percepción de ansiedad pasó de 2,67 ± 1,56 antes de la práctica (valor que se corresponde con una magnitud del efecto positivo en la escala de dibujos faciales) a 4,28 ± 1,41 al finalizar la misma (valor que se corresponde con la categoría magnitud del afecto neutra en la escala de dibujos faciales). Antes de escalar, la relación entre nivel de habilidad motriz y ansiedad percibida, fue no significativa. Sin embargo, se observó una clara tendencia a la significación (p = -0.07) cuando se relacionó el nivel de habilidad motriz con la ansiedad percibida por el grupo al finalizar la práctica de escalada.

Abstract: This study was carried out with the purpose of: (1) Identifying whether age influenced motor skill levels and the anxiety perceived by a group of elementary students before and after making a practice of climbing. (2) Checking the level of motor ability was related to perceived anxiety of the children before and after climbing practice. A sample of 116 public schools was used, between 6 and 10 years of age. A motor skills test and a visual analogue scale of facial drawings suitable for subjects of these ages were used. It was established that the motor ability level of the group significantly improved with the increased age of the subjects (p d» 0.01). We observed significant differences in perceived anxiety in the group before and after scaling (p d» 0.01). The perception of anxiety increased from 2.67 ± 1.56 before practice (value that corresponds to a magnitude of the positive affect scale of facial drawings) to 4.28 ± 1.41 (value that corresponds to a magnitude of the affect scale of neutral facial drawings) when it ended. However, there was a clear trend towards significance (p = -0.07) when the skill level associated with perceived anxiety caused the group to end the climbing practice.
