Academic performance is affected by cognitive functions, which hinders adolescents' intention to cope with the demands of learning. Given the problems, many of the educational institutions in the province of Oro (Ecuador) show high rates of student dropout, caused by low academic performance. Aim. To analyze the association between physical activity practice and quality of life with cognitive and academic performance in adolescents. Methodology. An explanatory cross-sectional study was carried out in a sample of 1,376 adolescents from 50 educational entities in the Machala Canton. The level of physical activity (MVPA Questionnaire), quality of life (KidScreen-52 Questionnaire), cognitive performance (CogniFit General Cognitive Assessment Test Battery) and academic performance were assessed through the average of the scores obtained in the four basic areas: mathematics, language, natural and social sciences. The instruments were subjected to a validity and reliability analysis, for which a pilot study was carried out on a sample of 1040 students. The information collected was processed through the SPSS v processing software. 26 for which various descriptive and inferential analysis techniques and multivariate correlation models were used. Results. A multiple linear correlation is identified using the Pearson correlation coefficient test, verifying (H1; H2; H3; H4; p=0.000<0.005). Conclusions. Hi is verified by (p=0.000), which shows that students with higher levels of physical activity and quality of life show better cognitive and academic performance.
