This study focuses on the field of physical exercise for improving physical fitness and body composition, particularly within the context of pandemic and confinement by COVID-19. The research objective is to assess the impact of an online physical exercise prescription protocol on the perceived satisfaction of basic psychological needs (BPN) and the outcomes achieved by participants based on their individual goals. Two groups of participants of both genders, aged between 30 and 60, were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, consisting of 17 and 10 participants respectively. A mixed data analysis approach was employed, incorporating quantitative measures to assess BPN satisfaction using the Basic Psychological Needs Exercise Scales questionnaire, and qualitative data assessment through interview analysis. Both groups underwent an identical eight-week intervention with measurements taken at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the process. Both groups received individualized coaching from a trainer, with the experimental group supplementing this with an experimental task protocol aimed at satisfying BPN and enhancing achieved results. The experimental group exhibited statistically significant differences in satisfaction of BPN related to competence and autonomy. Positive results and a perceived satisfaction of these needs were also evident in qualitative analysis. In conclusion, the online task protocol appears to effectively satisfy competence and autonomy-related BPN, fostering positive outcomes in participants' individual objectives.
