The article discusses the need to occupy the free time of patients in hospitals, and if hospital en-tertainment is perceived by them as a means to improve their quality of life. The analysis has been made from a structured process of collecting in-formation by completing a questionnaire of closed questions. This methodology is intended to define, in an objective manner, the time spent on various leisure activities in the hospital. The results allow us to establish correlations between the responses of patients and the variables analyzed. The re-search provides empirical evidence on the profiles of registered patients, characterized by the use of their free time and the positive effects of improve-ments as a result. Furthermore, the need to create appropriate social institutions for ethical leisure, helping to shape what is referred to as the “process of humanization in hospitals”.
