For over five decades, extensive research has focused on women in the workforce and their role in childbearing. This shift has broadened the understanding of work beyond mere employment relations to encompass gender dynamics between men and women. Consequently, this approach has not only enhanced the visibility of all socially necessary work but also advanced our comprehension of its structure and implications. The two award-winning papers presented at the Interconference Meeting in La Coruña exemplify this progress. They showcase a sociological perspective that now needs to be applied to other employment activities that have been overlooked and left uncompensated in the wake of the digitalization of goods and services production processes
