¿Más allá del hedging? La diversificación estratégica securitaria de Filipinas

En el Sudeste Asiático, los estados pequeños siguen presentando estrategias de hedging ante el aumento de la rivalidad entre Estados Unidos y China; y la literatura sobre el tema destaca la racionalidad y agencia de las potencias secundarias. Este artículo demuestra que utilizar estrategias de hedging no consiste simplemente en elegir entre una u otra superpotencia. Así, empleando Filipinas como caso de estudio, examina la evolución de su «diversificación estratégica» en sus relaciones en materia de seguridad con potencias intermedias como Japón, Australia y otros socios asiáticos a partir de la llegada al Gobierno de Ferdinand Marcos Jr. en 2022. Su estrategia puede ayudar a los estados pequeños a mitigar los riesgos e impulsar también una estrategia nacional.
