Situação físico-emocional de homens e mulheres idosos durante a pandemia: influência da morte de pessoas próximas por covid-19

Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o estado físico-emocional de idosos durante a pandemia, considerando as diferenças de gênero e a influência das mortes de pessoas próximas por covid-19. Para isso, foram utilizadas diversas escalas de mensuração, como a escala de felicidade subjetiva (SHS), a escala de qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (SF-12), a escala de estresse percebido (PSS), a escala de dor (VAS) e a escala de gratidão. escala (CG-6). A amostra foi composta por 71 participantes com idades entre 55 e 75 anos. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que os homens apresentaram maiores níveis de felicidade subjetiva, melhor saúde mental, maior qualidade de vida e menor percepção de estresse e dor em comparação às mulheres. Porém, ao considerar a variável morte por covid-19, diferenças significativas só foram observadas na saúde mental e na percepção de estresse entre homens e mulheres naqueles participantes que não vivenciaram perdas próximas. Concluindo, este estudo revelou a existência de diferenças no estado físico-emocional entre homens e mulheres durante a pandemia. Além disso, constatou-se que a proximidade das mortes por covid-19 teve um impacto diferencial na saúde mental e na percepção de estresse de acordo com o gênero. Estas descobertas contribuem para a compreensão dos efeitos psicossociais da pandemia na população idosa e destacam a importância de considerar as diferenças de género na saúde física e emocional durante situações de crise como a pandemia de covid-19.
