Invariância multicultural e validação do índice de força mental em atletas norte-americanos e mexicanos

Resumo

Resistência mental (MT) é um tópico amplamente investigado relacionado a profissões, personalidades e atividades esportivas. A função do psicólogo do esporte é apoiar a gestão das emoções, enfrentando estressores e estabelecendo metas, valendo-se das características multiculturais dos atletas. A invariância da TM foi examinada entre atletas americanos e mexicanos por meio do teste de invariância, usando análise fatorial confirmatória de vários grupos com modelos cada vez mais restritivos. O ajuste dos dados do modelo em ambas as amostras foi satisfatório (mexicano CFI = 0,988, mexicano RMSEA = 0,085; US CFI = 0,998, US RMSEA = 0,032). O modelo de invariância escalar foi selecionado como o melhor ajuste (CFI escalar = 0,981, RMSEA escalar = 0,077). Os resultados implicam que o significado do construto é o mesmo em ambas as culturas e suas pontuações podem ser comparadas diretamente.
