Resumo

Embora uma extensa literatura em países desenvolvidos sugira que elementos do ambiente urbano construído estimulam a atividade física com efeitos benéficos à saúde, as informações sobre essa ligação em países em desenvolvimento ainda são escassas. Este estudo examina se a atividade física de lazer das mulheres (AFL) está associada ao status socioeconômico da vizinhança, à presença de parques públicos e às características sociodemográficas e de saúde de mulheres que vivem em uma cidade mexicana de médio porte. Uma análise de regressão logística multinível foi realizada para testar a associação entre uma amostra de mulheres adultas (N = 1.285) em Hermosillo, México. A análise vincula duas medidas de AFTL a várias métricas de acessibilidade ao parque e status socioeconômico do bairro. Vinte e dois por cento das mulheres praticavam atividade física na vizinhança (NPA), enquanto 29% praticavam atividade física geral (OPA). Após o ajuste por status socioeconômico do bairro e variáveis ​​de nível individual, a densidade dos parques, a proporção parque-para-pessoas, áreas de serviço dos parques combinadas ou distância do parque mais próximo não foram relacionados com NPA e OPA. O status socioeconômico da vizinhança foi a única variável contextual com uma influência significativa na NPA das mulheres (AOR 1,05; IC 95% 0,99-1,10) e OPA (AOR = 1,06; IC 95% 1,01, 1,12). Após controlar as variáveis ​​de nível de bairro, a idade e a escolaridade das mulheres também foram estatisticamente associadas à atividade física. Com base nos indicadores usados ​​neste estudo, os resultados não apóiam uma conexão entre a presença de parques e a atividade física das mulheres nos bairros de Hermosillo.
