Dinâmicas de género no uso de videojogos: padrões de uso, controlo parental, motivações e efeitos em adolescentes espanhóis

Introdução: O uso de videojogos entre adolescentes atraiu a atenção do investigador pelo seu impacto no desenvolvimento e nos comportamentos sociais. As diferenças de género no compromisso com os videojogos e no controlo parental sugerem a necessidade de intervenções adaptadas.
Objectivo: Este estudo tem como objectivo examinar os padrões de utilização de videojogos, as motivações, o controlo parental e o uso problemático entre adolescentes espanhóis dos 12 aos 20 anos, explorando diferenciações específicas por género para identificar áreas chave para intervenções direcionadas.
Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo baseado em inquéritos numa lista de 2567 adolescentes espanhóis (M=14,89; DP=1,90), avaliando os seus hábitos de jogo, o controlo parental sobre os mesmos, as motivações para jogar e os indicadores de uso problemático.
Resultados: Os resultados mostram diferenças significativas segundo o género: os adolescentes apresentam uma grande implicação nos videojogos, dedicando mais tempo e dinheiro e participando em jogos de fortuna ou azar online, o que está associado a maiores tarefas de jogo problemáticas. Os adolescentes, em mudança, relatam níveis mais elevados de supervisão e controlo parental nas suas atividades de jogo.
Discussão: Estes hallazgos coincidem com estudos anteriores que sugerem que os adolescentes varones têm uma participação de forma mais intensa nos videojuegos e no jogo, enquanto as mulheres experimentam uma maior vigilância parental. As diferenças de género realçam motivações e dinâmicas sociais distintas na utilização de videojogos entre adolescentes.
Conclusões: Este estudo subraya a importância de desenvolver intervenções adaptadas ao género para fomentar práticas de jogo saludáveis em adolescentes, abordando os riscos associados ao jogo excessivo de maneira eficaz e dependendo das necessidades específicas de cada género.
