Coubertin na Guatemala: proposta de ensino dos valores Coubertinianos nas comunidades maias

No âmbito acadêmico internacional, a divulgação dos valores e do legado de Pierre de Coubertin representa um notável campo de interesse, embora faltem projetos voltados à sua promulgação nas línguas indígenas. Esta investigação centrou-se no desenvolvimento de um programa educativo para incutir os valores Coubertinianos nas comunidades maias, utilizando uma abordagem interdisciplinar que engloba atividades recreativas, artísticas, culturais e desportivas, com base na tradução e adaptação cultural do livro "The True Pierre de Coubertin "para a língua maia K'iche'. Utilizando uma metodologia qualitativa fenomenológica, foram envolvidos 250 alunos de uma escola monolíngue em Totonicapán, Guatemala. Os dados recolhidos através dos grupos focais revelaram que o ensino dos valores Coubertinianos, contextualizados à realidade cultural dos participantes, promove um profundo sentimento de inclusão, identidade e pertencimento. Os valores da amizade, do respeito, do fair play e da universalidade surgiram como fundamentais para o desenvolvimento pessoal, a paz e a convivência harmoniosa. Este estudo destaca a relevância de adaptar os princípios educacionais de Coubertin a contextos culturais específicos, destacando o seu potencial para inspirar a transformação social e fortalecer a identidade cultural nas comunidades indígenas.
