HIIT e sua influência no VO2máx em estudantes de fisioterapia

Foi demonstrada a importância do treinamento intervalado de alta intensidade (HIIT) e sua influência no consumo de VO2máx nas pessoas. Considerando que a tendência atual da fisioterapia reside na periodização do exercício terapêutico e na sua implementação, é necessária a adesão a programas de treino que garantam a boa condição física do profissional de fisioterapia. O objetivo geral do estudo foi descrever como o HIIT pode afetar o VO2máx em estudantes do programa de fisioterapia da Universidade Técnica del Norte do Equador. Foi utilizado um desenho quase-experimental, pré e pós-teste, quantitativo; com amostra de 66 sujeitos divididos em GE (31) e GC (35); que foram avaliados inicialmente e finalmente através do Teste de Cooper, calculando o VO2máx; o GE foi orientado a realizar o HIIT programado para 8 semanas e o GC manteve suas atividades habituais. Os dados foram analisados pelo teste T de amostras pareadas. Houve aumento significativo (P=<0,01) na distância percorrida e no VO2máx em relação à distância e ao VO2máx do grupo controle (P=>0,01). Conclui-se que o HIIT pode melhorar os níveis de VO2máx em estudantes de fisioterapia, gera benefícios na redução da frequência cardíaca máxima, porém, os níveis de IMC permanecem os mesmos.
