Impacto de dois programas de exercício físico supervisionado no bem-estar e sintomas de depressão em pessoas com empregos sedentários

Resumo

Esta pesquisa examina o impacto de dois programas supervisionados de exercícios físicos no local de trabalho sobre o bem-estar e os sintomas de depressão em pessoas com ocupações sedentárias. As intervenções foram realizadas em três empresas distintas: uma empresa de engenharia de energias renováveis, uma seguradora e uma empresa de infraestruturas e serviços. Os programas tiveram frequência de três e duas sessões semanais respectivamente, visando a melhora do condicionamento físico geral. A amostra do estudo foi de 54 trabalhadores das três empresas. Avaliações foram realizadas antes e depois das intervenções para avaliar o impacto dos programas de exercícios no bem-estar e nos sintomas depressivos. O bem-estar foi medido usando o questionário SF-36 v2 (Alonso et al., 1995) e os sintomas depressivos com o questionário Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) (Radloff, 1977). O primeiro programa levou a uma redução significativa das dores corporais (p=0,024; η2=0,18) e a melhorias na saúde física global, enquanto o segundo apresentou melhorias significativas na vitalidade. Ambos os programas reduziram significativamente os sintomas de depressão. Estas descobertas sugerem que a implementação de programas de exercício físico em ambientes de trabalho pode ser eficaz na melhoria do bem-estar e na redução dos sintomas depressivos em pessoas com empregos sedentários. Isto poderia promover a criação de serviços específicos de exercício físico no local de trabalho oferecidos por empresas que promovem a atividade desportiva.
