A experiência da gravidez e da maternidade na carreira de atletas brasileiras: um estudo qualitativo

Resumo

A maternidade é um período em que ocorre a desconstrução de uma identidade e a reconstrução de outra, o que inclui mudanças no autoconceito, no comprometimento e na aprendizagem. Para as mães atletas, as mudanças impactam suas carreiras. Pretendemos descrever a experiência de estar grávida para um grupo de atletas brasileiras. Foi realizado um estudo qualitativo descritivo e exploratório seguindo as diretrizes para relato de pesquisas qualitativas (SRQR). Foram utilizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com nove atletas brasileiras, todas atletas profissionais no momento da gravidez. Foram utilizadas amostragem de variação máxima e técnica de bola de neve. A análise foi feita por meio do software Iramuteq, que realizou Classificação Hierárquica Descendente (CHD) e Análise de Similaridade. Os nove atletas tinham idade média de 38,3 anos (DP: 5,5 anos), pertenciam a diferentes níveis e modalidades esportivas e todos tinham pelo menos um filho. Foram identificados 488 segmentos de texto, divididos em cinco classes: História no esporte; Planejamento da gravidez e pós-parto imediato; Conciliação de rotinas de atleta e mãe; Narrativa de apoio social; Cuidado infantil. Os resultados indicam que as atletas podem ter benefícios emocionais na conciliação da maternidade com a carreira esportiva na medida em que tenham apoio social, relativo planejamento para engravidar e tenham liberdade para conciliar a rotina esportiva com o trabalho.
