Dieta cetogénica: uma porta de entrada para otimizar o desempenho desportivo aeróbico e anaeróbico

Resumo

Esta revisão narrativa tem como objetivo destacar o efeito da dieta cetogénica no desempenho desportivo aeróbio e anaeróbio. Este artigo faz uma abordagem narrativa apresentando os resultados de aproximadamente 40 estudos anteriores para definir o alcance da aplicação da dieta cetogénica como terapia nutricional, com o objetivo de auxiliar na recuperação da fadiga ou dano muscular causado pelo exercício e aumentar a capacidade aeróbia e o desempenho anaeróbio . Uma dieta cetogénica parece mais adequada para atividades físicas de menor intensidade realizadas num estado equilibrado ou moderado de exigência energética. No entanto, não existe consenso sobre a sua compatibilidade com exercícios de força que requerem impulsos máximos de energia. Estas investigações devem explorar os seus efeitos no desempenho, na saúde e na composição corporal em comparação com outras abordagens dietéticas. Em última análise, uma melhor compreensão dos benefícios e limitações da dieta cetogénica ajudará os atletas e os indivíduos a tomar decisões informadas sobre a sua adopção para optimizar a sua saúde e objectivos atléticos.
