The objective of this research was to recognize the perception of a group of Paralympic athletes regarding the use of the wheelchair and the impact on their quality of life. This study was oriented under a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional approach; The population under study were 30 athletes with physical disabilities, wheelchair users from basketball, field tennis and wheelchair athletics, from a sports club in the city of Cali. A sociodemographic survey and a quality-of-life questionnaire called GENCAT were applied to determine the level of general quality of life and by domains of the population. The results suggest better scores in terms of overall quality of life in wheelchair athletes. The domains of emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships and material well-being presented significant differences in this population. On the contrary, the social inclusion domain is the one that predominates with the lowest scores in all groups.
