Using various classifications of the dimensions of sociology, the aim of this paper is to discuss the professional situation of the sociology in the public sector in Spain. The institutionalization of the sociology in Spain is reviewed and related to the evolution experienced in neighboring countries. Subsequently, the results of the Study on the professional situation of sociologists are analyzed. On the one hand, the profiles of sociologists working in the public sector are offered. Furthermore, the experience of sociology is analyzed (including the experiences in the labor market and the valuation of the studies of sociology and the current curricula) and two sub-sections are developed: one on organizational membership and another one on the skills needed to the practice of the profession; in this section the different valuations of the group dedicated to teaching and the group working in the Public Enterprises and Administration are highlighted.Downloads
