This paper claims the social utility of opinion polls insofar as they help parties to design their own campaign strategies and provide potential voters with a source of understanding and information that underlies their choice. It also stresses the difficulty of making good estimations due to the problems of measurement, sampling and coverage, advocating the realization of electoral forecasts through high quality surveys with large samples complemented with qualitative research.Downloads
