The aim of this paper is to identify the factors that influence the success and failure of Biscay’s family preservation programme, aimed at improving family functioning and preventing the implementation of separation measures in cases of risk of serious vulnerability for which a file has been opened at the Biscay Regional Council. To this purpose, a qualitative methodology was used, through two focus groups comprised of child protection professionals. The content analysis of both groups was carried out with the ATLAS.ti software programme. The results obtained show how professionals believe that the success of the interventions of the family preservation lies primarily on parent-related variable, and not so much on those for children and adolescents, or for the intervention process.Downloads
