The moral character of volunteering
Keywords:
NGO, associate membership, affiliation, volunteering, social profile, moral characterAbstract
This paper tries to explore if members of non profit-making organizations display a different moral —as well as socio-demographical— profile from the average of the population. To do so, data from World Values Survey regarding the Comunidad Valenciana will be analysed. The paper will also define the concept of «moral character» and work with it, extracting its main elements through a factor analysis in order to verify significant differences between both the different constructed categories (such as affiliated population, population affiliated to volunteer organizations, population who does volunteer work in general or in volunteer associations) and the different types of associations.Downloads
