This article is the result of research into undergraduate university students and the problems affecting their academic lives (study conditions, learning and teaching, university involvement and participation). The study examines the prevalence of problems related to depression and anxiety, as well as other mental health issues, in the university population. It is revealed that the most determinant factors for depression and chronic anxiety are a non-binary sexual identity, foreign origin and being female, the weekly hours dedicated to household chores and caring for others, as well as paid work. Regarding the factors that prevent depression and chronic anxiety, weekly sports activities stand out, followed by hours spent on hobbies and social life, as well as continuing to reside in the family home.
