Abstract
The cultural products of non-formal education, and specifically those broadcast on television and streaming platforms, including non-fiction and cartoons for children, propose among their figurations stereotyped characters in their construction of gender. According to previous research, identifying and combating them favours the eradication of sexist ideas related to macho violence. Therefore, the set objective was to design and validate a table for the analysis of sexual stereotypes present in any audio-visual product. The process followed a 3-phase protocol (Garrido et al., 2015): 1) The published literature was reviewed, traits related to gender stereotypes were extracted, the writing of the items was completed, and they were redistributed, in pairs, in 5 categories: corporal, attitudinal, social, affective-sexual, audio-visual. 2) The draft was subjected to an expert validation process by 27 female and 8 male judges, whose quantitative contributions determined a construct validity index of 0.71. 3) With their qualitative suggestions, content and clarity were adjusted. The result is the design of the GS_5x4 table for the analysis of gender stereotypes in films, series, or other audio-visual products, which is presented, discussed, and compared with other existing ones, so that it can be used in further research.
